We started off the school year with a fantastic week of preschool and pre-k! Our Tahoe kids are the happiest preschoolers on Earth and we have a wonderful group of three and four year olds this year. Teachers around the world dream of the smooth first week that we had, and we ended the day on Friday discussing what made it so perfect. It was a combination of things – our preparation in advance of the first day, the majority of our students knowing us from last year, or siblings that have known us since they were babies, the parents in the group this year and their respect for our program, the experience and knowledge of our two outstanding lead teachers, the support of our Board of Trustees and our community, the flexibility and open mind of letting things flow and go as they naturally do, the wide-eyed curiosity of our students, and the gigantic brains and hearts in all of them. These things are what we strive for in our classroom each day, each week, and all year long – but to experience them during the first few days of school is an incredible feeling.
We eased into the first week of school with lots of creating, exploring, giggling, making new friends, learning, playing, singing, dancing, reading, climbing, digging, pouring, counting, and so much more. These groups of kids seems so eager to learn this year and many of them are already friends which has made the first week a smooth transition for everyone.
We’re so excited and energized for all of the new and exciting things we’re going to explore and accomplish this year together!
